on my knees

on the floor

A breather

Take her in

with open gaze

Worn loving hands

on tired knees

on faded chair

well-trod path

to generations

Gentle smile on lips

the floor

for all

it is Worth.

I wanted to express my feelings about looking after the older generations, on an everyday practical level.  I found joy in the simple scrubbing of a floor for a woman who has done that chore a million times before… for all those she loves in life.  And it brought to  mind all those generations of maternal floor-scrubbers who led me into this point in time where I am found kneeling – in the best kind of prayer and service.
