Two e-books on blogging and Kindle

I am finding the principles in both of these e-books very helpful, and highly recommend others who want to increase interaction, views and followers on their blogs, and make a profit from successful sales and promotion of their Kindle e-book.

Crush It With Kindle – How to self publish your books on Kindle and promote them to #1 bestseller status

Social networking is all about being social, and not only for the business side of things, attracting possible customers, also for the sake of simply being sociable. For me this is important as I have experienced some big ups and downs when it comes to being with other people. Opinionated Man’s blogworld has opened up a doorway for me which has helped me to learn (re-learn?) some basic essentials about being sociable.

I have (re-)learnt the basics of visiting people, inviting people over, opening conversations in which people express their opinions, how to treat others’ opinions with respect even if we disagree, and keeping up with current events. Opinionated Man shows how all of this translates into certain things we can actively do online to have the same social effect. OM’s e-book HarsH ReaLiTy (A Blogging Manual) is more than just a blogging manual, it holds the principles of how to build a creative community, and also shares some of his life and background. I have only begun to tap into this potential, and I believe it applies not only to an online community, but also to creating a community outside of the internet.

John Tighe’s e-book, Crush It With Kindle, is specifically designed to help make a success of selling a Kindle e-book. I am still part-way through reading it properly, because it really calls for a step-by-step approach, whereas I have not yet begun to design my e-book. I had previously thought that it was not possible to print my colouring pages from a Kindle, and found out this week that I was wrong! So, I have read the book once-through and understand the principles of it, and I believe it will work to set my e-book off to a roaring start. It is a system that obviously worked for John Tighe and I am very glad he has chosen to share it with us all.

My offline life is about to benefit from increased sociability, after some time of adjusting to being shunned from a large social group, and also recovering from the worst effects of post-traumatic stress. Might sound strange, but it really seemed like I needed to completely re-learn how to be social, from scratch. Opinionated Man’s methods seem to have provided a social theory, that I could practice from the relative “safety” of an online identity, and now feel confident that I can put it into practice in ‘real life.’ I won’t outline my plans as yet because they are in the delicate idea stage! It does relate to art.

My income is, I hope! about to take a turn for the better due to John Tighe’s step-by-step advice. I want to share this with anyone who is also hoping to make an income from their successful Kindle e-book.

All the best,
Anasera

Thank you to my top referrers…

Thank you Google Search and Google Image Search, who referred about half each of the 1,430 views

Thank you Yahoo and all of you who visit from your Yahoo mailbox!

Thank you Gravatar for a handy way for people to connect

Thank you WordPress Dashboard… err.. I am wondering if that is Me clicking on my stuff

Thank you Opinionated Man, look at those views coming through from your site!

Thank you Twitter, I am enjoying the poetic connection

Thank you my other little blogs which link to the colouring book

Thank you Facebook, for a portal through to the blog! That’s 31 referrals compared to 7 likes! (Still haven’t got the hang of FB.)

Thank you Daily Post, I enjoy the occasional Weekly Photo Challenge with fellow WordPress photographers, artists and poets.

Most of these referrals happen without me doing anything except keep posting stuff and tagging it, and setting up ‘Publicize’ to send a link to my other social media sites when I press “Publish.”

The exception is OM’s blog, where it is so easy to get absorbed in the conversation with the many bloggers who enjoy gathering around OM’s campfire, so to speak. This was a bit of an eye-opener. If you’ve never visited before, I would recommend trying the Southern Pot Roast and Green Beans wrapped with bacon… and check out the blogging tips.

To all the three hundred odd referrers who make up the rest of the list, a Mighty Big Thank You goes out to you. Many names I recognize from comments and conversations, and meeting up on blogs. Some I know have colouring pictures on their blogs, with links to send people to the Wildersoul Colouring Book. I thank you all so very much for your support.

Where do your referrals come from?

a new day

Check out Opinionated Man’s Writing Challenge at HarsH ReaLiTy, “What does a sunrise mean to you?”

Sunrise dazzles with a new promise: the sun will shine today, and in the same moment proves a promise kept. The sun sinks in the evening, promising to return after a period of darkness. Soft light, birdsong, and first hint of warmth arrives to patient earth. Fresh morning sunrays awaken life within forests and seas. Night’s creatures fold back into dark shadows. And with a fullness, we all breathe in. Yesterday is cleared away, and a new day begins.

Business Therapy

Trucking along with this idea of making an income online… I came around a corner and delved into an e-book on how to make it big with an e-book. I’ve answered some of the questions, and it is easier than coming up with a ‘standard business plan.’ This is more of a specific, e-book business plan!

In the meantime, we have set a family goal to achieve. The first combined goal involving making money together!

To share something personal – it wasn’t so long ago when it was difficult for me to get beyond my own front door and face the world. From walking to the letterbox, to walking around the block, to taking trips into town and back, and venturing out on longer walks, we have eventually made it out of town for a small number of trips, and overnight stays, and now even two week stays with family.

Getting sick is a pain, because it feels like I am going backwards, and cocooning into my house again. It is not such a big issue for me dealing with the physical symptoms. The thunder storm has rolled on past, and the sun is shining outdoors again, so a walk around the block with my buggy sniffly, phlegmy family will be a welcome break from the last few days indoors.

So, this is our goal:

To take a two-week tour of the South Island of New Zealand.
This will involve a flight for three of us, approx $1000
Bus tour for three, approx $2000
Accommodation 14 nights approx $1500
and food at approx $400

All very rough estimates and trying to err on the side of having “too much money” rather than being stuck with too little, far from home! Grand Total of around $5000.

I’ll share my secret: This is intended to motivate me to make an income. I have been a homeschooling mum for many years, and making a re-entry into the paid workforce is a very interesting process. Not only do I need motivation to keep my mind of a husband appearing out of thin air, I also need motivation to keep my family supportive of my efforts to create and maintain a business from home. Without the support of those in my own home, it makes all efforts more difficult to sustain.

The special thing about this trip, is that I have always wanted to explore and get to know my own country before venturing out to visit the rest of the world. To know that I can stay away from home for two weeks, means that this trip is possible for me now. And once this trip is completed, I will know that I am ready to travel overseas.

I have taken on-board OM’s very helpful tips in his e-book HarsH ReaLiTy (A Blogging Manual). And have made some specific measurable goals to work towards, which will help me to reach the South Island, and beyond!

  • 100,000 views in six months
  • 6,800 followers in six months
  • Commit to making three comments on new blogs every day (minimum)

Sounds ambitious, and that is the nature of goal-setting. I review my goals weekly, monthly and every three months. Because sometimes they can be too ambitious, or else I have achieved the goal earlier than expected. Or it has evolved into something else. So these figures may change. It is my prompt to get started, and to stay motivated.  Actually, OM is a major motivating force for me. I guess this is because essentially we have a similar aim, of earning an income from blogging in one way or another. Rather than a conventional 9 to 5 day-job or career.

I reckon there’s a few of us out there with the same motivation 🙂

At the root of it, for me, is the desire to spend maximum amount of time with those I love most.

There’s a careful balance needed then, to make sure the means does not swamp the end.

The therapeutic part of this business planning, is in the mindset I strive to develop. It is focused actively on love and hope. And draws the rest of my existence around those things.

OM’s The Wishing Lake – poster design

Check out the new Poem Poster https://www.etsy.com/listing/154618566/oms-the-wishing-lake-poster

I’d like to get it printed and framed. Make a nice gift – something different and unusual!

I am starting off by creating a one-page full-colour PDF, and hope to end up creating illustrated e-books. It takes a bit of getting used to handling the software.  And the technical stuff, you know, sizes and ratios, MBs and pixels, and exporting to different formats without conflict.

Hope you like the result. More to follow! I would like to showcase my favourite poems by authors here on WP. (With their permission of course!)  Thank you OM.
