Have you ever…

Have you ever been raped?
Have you ever seen murder?
Have you ever told?

Have you ever been hurt?
Have you ever been scared?
Have you ever cried?

Have you ever raped?
Have you ever killed?
Have you ever remained silent?

Have you ever kept a secret?
Have you ever told a lie?
Have you ever let the evil walk on by?

Have you ever been kissed?
Have you ever been loved?
Have you ever received a heartfelt hug?

Have you ever loved?
Have you ever cared?
Have you ever belonged?
And if so, where?

Chalk Bombing

Well, I’ve been at it again. We zoomed down to the city at the end of the day and after a good bit of climbing and swinging on the new rope playground, I set to work with a bunch of coloured chalks. It was great to notice that I was not the only ‘grown-up’ getting up to monkey business in the park. The rope playground is very cool, and shaped like a ship, with rigging. Great place to bring grandparents to stretch their legs and have a good work-out.

There are a number of interesting spots that could be good for a Meetup outdoors, for chalk bombing, or colouring in, or even a musical get-together. Try http://www.meetup.com/Tauranga-Healthy-Creative-Minds-Meetup and register your interest, if you are in the area. Or setup a group locally!

Beach art fascinates me, and I found some amazing stuff on Pinterest, so if you’d like to take a look, just scroll down a bit through the art I like, and you’ll find a couple of 3D Chalk Artists, and also a tonne of beach sculptures, sand art, etc. http://www.pinterest.com/anaserat/art-i-like/

(Just joined up with Pinterest today – it’s great!)

Show me your chalk bombing pics! Or perhaps, chalk bombing poems?

Artist Chat

Well, that was exciting; a guest spot on #ArtistChat with @SharonNicholas of @ArtistChat on Twitter.

All those pertinent short questions got me thinking. Where am I headed with my art?

If art starts at birth, with all-encompassing perception, and then builds into skills of movement , sound, and creating an effect on the world around us with our hands, or our voice, or a simple move of the eye, then where does school fit in, and the structured learning of what others have done before us?

How does the entirely new scene of art publishing fit in?

Everything can be published non-traditionally now, in some means, shape or form. Video captures dance, kinetic sculpture, and open mic poetry… Paintings, photographs, and music clips can be uploaded for the world to see on a blog, and the artist is accessible to chat with in real-time.

I didn’t discuss my colouring book art at all, and I have a large gap before I started posting art to my blog, where I mostly spent my energy on raising a family. Sculpture and moving pictures with sound, poems, and dance… Photography and paint, and digital art. There is so much I want to do, and combine.

The colouring book art is a start – it has put me into a regular daily routine, and has pulled me into a tonne of learning. Such as different graphics programs, social media, blogging, and small business start-up. And now sales skills… online marketing. publicity, advertising, campaigns, google rankings, and tax treaties. So much to learn.

For now, I will drift off to sleep to the sound of rain drumming on a tin roof. Night all!

Morning thoughts on psychopaths, as you do…

I was thinking in poem form, about psychopaths as I woke this morning (as you do), and this is what I scribbled down as the words bulged to a mass which threatened to overload available memory, of which I have little.

All psychopathic serial killers
                          slip up
And it's their silly mistakes
              that catch them out
Charm and deceit wear thin
          they become transparent
And the honest truth shines through

The one who conquers them
    does so with Love
And he sees them brought low

Eternal justice prevails.

Feelings

In between
Thought
and Instinct,
when together they fall asleep,
A peaceful baby gently wakes
I name her simply,
Feelings.

Justice

My name is Wisdom.

I am my mother’s son.

Too many stole my name

treated it with contempt

discarded it with savage grins

Now I wear it in pain.

My name is Horror

I am closer than your skin

My home is the cage your heart is trapped within

I am tended to by psychopaths

whose gilded tongues beguile

those who keep on choosing

to believe in all their lies.

My name is Shame

I am your name.

Your name is Honour

You have dug out from your grave

Faced the sunlight

With eyes pure and bright

Exposing grim remains

The evidence before the Court

kills off laughter

murders jest

Horror, Shame and Indifference

are sorely put to the test.

Wisdom stands to the side

Weighing up the case in hand

Grinners and beguilers

are hatefully held in contempt

as the scales tip the balance

and pain slips to the other side.

Love

Cool, crazy, untimid

Reserved, mature, unafraid

Tender, enduring, fearless

Rushing, gushing, reckless?

Never never feckless…

I want to colour so much

I’m breaking my rule of keeping my own colouring in off the blog… Well, it is on my poetry blog, and they are older drawings, so hopefully no-one will notice it too much! I like people to have their own ideas about what to do with their ‘blank canvas.’  Or not so blank canvases…!

This was called ‘A little birdie told me…’

My mum coloured the top right pic, and wrote a poem to go with it…

This old world goes
'Round and round
'Round and round
'Round and round
This old world goes
round and round
Splat!

Oh dear. It was nice sitting and colouring together. I sometimes wonder if that’s what video chat might be good for – a bit of colouring with company!

I want to colour the Celtic knot I just drew, and the printer is in a room where someone is sleeping, so I am restraining myself… I will go get some more sleep, and do some colouring tomorrow. Do you sometimes get such a strong urge to colour something? To brighten something up… to be creative?  And the urge is blocked?

Hmm – I’m going to colour a blank bit of paper…

(Edit:  I forgot to add this link – http://www.creativetherapies.co/ There’s a description of art therapy, etc)

Raining

You rain down

cold grey

I cringe

and

slip away –

a pool of tears

You burn bright

turn blue and white

in a reflection of me

evaporating

You meet me

at the horizon.

Poetry in progress…

Okay – this is from Kira’s Wordle Wednesday poetry prompt which is way cool.  I’m going to go through editing it, and show the editing in progress…. dunno why…. what do you think?  I’m calling it my poem therapy!

I like this prompt at http://wrestling-life.com/2013/06/05/wordle-wednesdays-6/

It’s the first time I’ve spent a bit of time editing one, it was an interesting process… quite liked it!
